Searched for benchmark stamped 'E 287' at 16:30, 21 November 2012. The benchmark was not located, but may still be in place. The location described for the mark is between McCall Avenue and an actively farmed vineyard. The mark is described as being "about a foot lower than the track", however the area, which is used as a farm road, has been built up to be about level to six inches higher than the track. No new coordinates were taken.

There is a Fresno County Brass Cap Monument (FCBCM), No. KM69, about 20 feet northeast of the described location, about 1 foot northwest of a power pole. Said FCBCM is NOT GT1425.

BM 496 is a part of the City of Fresno benchmark network, although it is in the City of Clovis.  THIS MARK WAS NOT FOUND.  When the monument was set, it was a brass cap (probably 2" diameter) set on a curb top.  Construction of an improved return with pedestrian & wheel chair ramps and a pedestrian island between the vehicle travel lanes most likely resulted in the removal of the brass cap.

The mark was found painted white with a blue cloth aerial target fastened to the ground around the mark. Also, the wood witness post had survey flagging tied to it and there was other survey evidence nearby. Decomposition of the flagging, paint, & target would probably put the use of this mark by the survey crew around October-December of 2011.
