Found it at 18:45, 28 August 2002. Found it mostly as described and in good condition. The 1972 description refers to the location as 62 feet north of the centerline of Sample Road. The intersection of Sample road and Highway 168 has moved north about 130 feet and the cap is now on the south side of the road - about 25 feet south of the centerline of Sample Road. There is some cosmetic damage to the cap, but it is readable. New coordinates found by 5 minute occupation with 6-7 strong satellites and 1 intermittent WAAS satellite.

REFERENCE MARK 1 AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION, AND AS DESCRIBED IN 1950. BENCH MARK E 803 (R.M. 2) WAS RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION, BUT HAS BEEN TILTED, BY ROAD EQUIPMENT, TO THE NORTHEAST. THE MARK IS SOUND AND SOLID IN THE GROUND. THE STATION IS LOCATED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 168 (TOLL HOUSE ROAD) AND ACADEMY AVENUE, ABOUT 16 MI (25.7 KM) NORTHEAST OF FRESNO, 12 MI (19.3 KM) NORTH OF SANGER AND 9 MI (14.5 KM) NORTHEAST OF CLOVIS. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE INTERSECTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 180 (KINGS CANYON ROAD) AND ACADEMY AVENUE, ABOUT 2 MI (3.2 KM) NORTH OF SANGER, GO NORTH ON ACADEMY AVENUE FOR 4.95 MI (7.97 KM) TO THE INTERSECTION WITH SHAW AVENUE. CONTINUE NORTH ON ACADEMY AVENUE FOR 4.0 MI (6.4 KM) TO THE INTERSECTION WITH SHEPHERD AVENUE.
