The right-angle curve in the description is now an intersection. There is no mailbox within 500 feet to the south of the intersection, or is there any evidence of a residence within 500 feet to the south of the intersection.
The cardinal directions from the roads and the mailbox put the position on the southwest corner of the intersection. There are presently some large underground gas structures in that position.

1/1/1949 by USGS (GOOD)
DESCRIBED BY US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY 1949 5.6 MI W FROM DINUBA. ALONG ROAD TO KINGSBURG, 6 MILES EAST OF KINGSBURG P. O., 33 FT. EAST OF CENTER LINE OF ROAD, 14 FT. SOUTH OF ROAD RUNNING EAST, IN CONCRETE HEAD WALL OVER IRRIGATION DITCH. WITNESS POST SET.

FOUND DATA
Lat: NA

Alt: NA

The headwall in the 1949 description has been rebuilt and the irrigation ditch on the west side of the road has been piped underground. It looks as though the entire culvert undercrossing has been moved about 20-30 feet south.

The cardinal ties to the roads put the position in the top of the ditch bank about 15 feet north of the ditch, with no evidence of a concrete headwall. The existing headwall (built with stacked, wet bags of concrete mix) is not a suitable place to mount a benchmark.
