DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1944 (JCS) STATION IS LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF THE TOWN OF ARMONA, 150 FEET N OF THE CENTER LINE OF WALNUT STREET, AND 135 FEET W OF THE CENTER LINE OF LAKE AVENUE. IT IS A SILVER-COLORED, ELEVATED, STEEL WATER TANK ABOUT 90 FEET HIGH. ITS APEX WAS THE POINT OF INTERSECTION.

Found it at 17:40, 21 December 2002. Found it as described and in good condition. Cap has been painted over and is the same color as the column. A fence around the school made it impossible to get a coordinate at the brasscap.

The published coordinates (NAD83) off by about 0.2 mile when in WGS84 mode. Found by using the 1958 description: At Stratford School, on Empire Street between First and Third Streets.
