DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1961 (LFV) STATION IS NOT YET IN POSITION. WHEN THE NEW CONTROL TOWER IS COMPLETED, THE OLD BEACON NEAR THE OLD TERMINAL WILL BE DISMANTLED. POINT LOCATED WAS THE INTERSECTION OF THE 4 BOLTS WHICH WILL SUPPORT THE NEW BEACON.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1992 THE STATION IS LOCATED ON TOP OF THE NEW CONTROL TOWER AT FRESNO AIR TERMINAL. THE BEACON IS A STANDARD ROTATING GREEN AND WHITE LIGHT. NOTE, THIS IS A NO CHECK GEODESY POSITION QUAD 361194, STA 1039A.

Found it at 12:00, 11 January 2003. Found it as described and in good condition. I grew up about a mile and a half from this tower and watched the green & white light every night.

WGS84 coordinates found by 3.5 minute occupation about 100 south of the tower with 7 strong satellites, 2 weak satellites, and 1 WAAS satellite.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1950 (RJS) THE STATION IS THE PINEDALE COMPRESS AND WAREHOUSE COMPANY WATER TANK, LOCATED ABOUT 8 MILES AIR LINE NORTH OF FRESNO AND ABOUT 1 MILE AIR LINE WEST OF PINEDALE. IT IS A 4 LEGGED STEEL STRUCTURE WITH A SILVER COLORED 100,000 GALLON WATER TANK ON ITS TOP. THE POINT TAKEN WAS THE TOP CENTER WHICH IS 199 FEET HIGH.

Found it at 11:30, 11 January 2003. Found it as described and in good condition. The tank no longer has 'Calcot' painted on the side but it is well maintained and still in use.

Original coordinates (NAD83) off by about 50 feet when in WGS84 mode. WGS84 coordinates found by 4 minute occupation at the base of the tank with 6 strong satellites and 1 WAAS satellite.
