DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1970 (LFS) THE SURFACE STATION MARK WAS RECOVERED BROKEN OFF AT GROUND LEVEL. THE UNDERGROUND-STATION MARK WAS RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION, OCCUPIED FOR HORIZONTAL CONTROL CHECK, THENCE A NEW SURFACE MONUMENT WAS ESTABLISHED. REFERENCE MARK 1 AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION, AND AS DESCRIBED IN 1950. BENCH MARK E 803 (R.M. 2) WAS RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION, BUT HAS BEEN TILTED, BY ROAD EQUIPMENT, TO THE NORTHEAST. THE MARK IS SOUND AND SOLID IN THE GROUND. VERTICAL CONTROL WAS RE-ESTABLISHED, AT THIS TIME, TO THE BENCH MARK AND THE NEW SURFACE STATION MARK. THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 15-1/2 MILES NORTHEAST OF FRESNO, 9 MILES NORTHEAST OF CLOVIS, 1.3 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE ACADEMY POST OFFICE, AND AT THE JUNCTION OF STATE HIGHWAY 168 AND ACADEMY ROAD. THE STATION IS MARKED BY STANDARD DISKS, NOTE 1A 7A.

THE UNDERGROUND MARK IS STAMPED ACADEMY 1950.

THE SURFACE-STATION DISK IS STAMPED ACADEMY 1950 1970 B.M. RESET. IT IS LOCATED WITHIN THE NORTHWEST RIGHT-OF-WAY OF STATE HIGHWAY 168, 70.5 FEET NORTH-NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF THE T-INTERSECTION OF THE HIGHWAY AND ACADEMY ROAD, 27.5 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY, 5.2 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE NORTH SUPPORTING LEG OF A HIGHWAY SIGN READING, SANGER 12 KINGSBURG 26, 2.5 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE NORTHWEST HIGHWAY RIGHT-OF-WAY FENCE, AND 1.5 FEET WEST OF A METAL WITNESS POST WITH SIGN ATTACHED.

REFERENCE MARK 1, A STANDARD C AND GS DISK, IS STAMPED ACADEMY NO 1 1950. IT IS SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE MONUMENT, NOTE 11A, PROJECTING 2 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE AND IS 30.0 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY AND 1.0 FOOT NORTHWEST OF THE SOUTHEAST HIGHWAY RIGHT-OF-WAY FENCE.

BENCH MARK E 803, USED AS REFERENCE MARK 2, IS A STANDARD C AND GS DISK, STAMPED E 803 1947, SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST THAT PROJECTS 5 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 30.0 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY, 1.8 FEET NORTH-NORTHEAST OF A 4 X 4 INCHES SQUARE WOODEN WITNESS POST, AND 1.2 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE NORTHWEST HIGHWAY RIGHT-OF-WAY FENCE.

THE AZIMUTH MARK IS A STANDARD C AND GS DISK, STAMPED ACADEMY 1950, SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE MONUMENT, NOTE 16B, AND PROJECTS 3 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 0.3 MILE EAST OF THE STATION, 29.0 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY, 2.8 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A TELEPHONE POLE, AND 1.7 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE SOUTHEAST HIGHWAY FENCE.
