DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1966 4.7 MI SW FROM MENDOTA. 0.7 MILE SOUTHWEST ALONG SEVENTH STREET FROM THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC STATION AT MENDOTA, THENCE 2.0 MILES SOUTH ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 33, THENCE 2.0 MILES WEST ALONG CALIFORNIA AVENUE, 28 1/2 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE AVENUE, 56 1/2 FEET SOUTH AND ACROSS THE AVENUE FROM A POWER POLE, 1 1/2 FEET WEST OF A POWER POLE, 1.4 FEET EAST OF A WITNESS POST, ABOUT LEVEL WITH THE AVENUE AND IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 0.3 FOOT.

Found USC&GS benchmark stamped 'K998 1972' set in a round concrete post, up 5" at 12:15, 09 May 2009 as described and in good condition. Go to description is adequate.

2 feet west of power pole with two abandoned transformers;
1.5 feet north of a witness post, 15 feet south of the south edge of pavement;
27 feet south of the paint line of the California Avenue;
42.2 feet southeast of a section corner;
55 feet south of, and across the road from power pole No. 23/9

Published NAD83 coordinates are located about 200 feet northeast of the found WGS84 coordinates. WGS84 coordinates for the mark found by 13 minute occupation with 9 strong satellites and 2 WAAS satellites.
