DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1950 (RJS) THE STATION IS LOCATED 10 MILES AIR LINE SOUTHWEST OF TOLLHOUSE AND 2 MILES AIR LINE NORTHEAST OF ACADEMY. IT IS 21.6 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER OF STATE HIGHWAY 168 AND 2 FEET WEST OF A FENCE. THE CONCRETE POST IN WHICH THE MARK IS SET PROJECTS 4 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. THE MARK IS STAMPED LEE 1950. REFERENCE MARK NUMBER 1 IS ABOUT 2 FEET LOWER THAN THE STATION. IT IS 42 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER OF STATE HIGHWAY 168 AND 1 FOOT EAST OF A FENCE. THE CONCRETE CYLINDER IN WHICH THE MARK IS SET PROJECTS 3 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. THE MARK IS STAMPED LEE NO 1 1950. THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY BENCH MARK IS 23 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER OF STATE HIGHWAY 168 AND 1 FOOT EAST OF A FENCE. IT IS SET IN A DRILL HOLE IN A LARGE, FLAT BOULDER THAT PROJECTS 1 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. THE MARK IS 1.10 METERS LOWER THAT THE STATION MARK. THE MARK IS STAMPED 601 597 F. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS LOCATED 32 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER OF STATE HIGHWAY 168, 15 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A LARGE OAK TREE AND 6 FEET WEST OF A FENCE. THE BOULDER IN WHICH THE MARK IS SET PROJECTS 1 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. THE MARK IS STAMPED LEE 1950. TO REACH FROM THE POST OFFICE IN ACADEMY, GO NORTHEAST ON STATE HIGHWAY 168 FOR 2.2 MILES TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE RIGHT AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. CONTINUE ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 0.4 MILE TO THE STATION ON THE RIGHT AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. A DRIVE STATION.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1972 2.2 MI NE FROM ACADEMY. 2.2 MILES NORTHEAST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 168 FROM THE JUNCTION OF MADSEN AVENUE AT ACADEMY, ABOUT 300 YARDS EAST OF A POND, 21.7 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 63.85 FEET EAST OF R.M. 1, 91.30 FEET SOUTH OF BENCH MARK 597 (USGS), 54 1/2 FEET WEST OF A 24-INCH OAK TREE, 1.8 FEET WEST OF A FENCE, 1.0 FOOT NORTH OF A WITNESS POST, ABOUT 2 FEET HIGHER THAN THE HIGHWAY, AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST FLUSH WITH THE GROUND. SEC 1, T12S, R22E.

Found USC&GS triangulation station stamped "LEE 1950" at 17:00, March 10, 2006 as described and in good condition. Go to description is adequate. The station is 1 foot west of a Carsonite witness post. The described witness post, a 4"x4" wood post, and the oak tree remain. The tree is now approximately 30"-33" in diameter at chest level.

Published NAD83 coordinates are located about 2 feet east of the found WGS84 coordinates. WGS84 coordinates for the mark found by 2.5 minute occupation with 9 strong satellites and 2 WAAS satellites.
