DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1943 (JCS) THIS INTERSECTION STATION IS THE APEX OF THE TOWER OF THE MADERA COUNTY COURTHOUSE IN MADERA. THE TOWER IS SQUARE, GRAY, ABOUT 75 FEET HIGH, AND HAS CLOCKS ON EACH OF ITS SIDES. THERE IS A BELL IN THE CUPOLA AT ITS TOP AND A FLAGPOLE ON THE APEX. THE COURTHOUSE IS LOCATED ABOUT 50 YARDS S OF W YOSEMITE AVENUE AND 0.15 MILE W OF U.S. HIGHWAY 99. INTERSECTED FROM EL PECO, BERENDA, SHARON.

Found it at 12:00, 08 February 2003. Found it as described and in very good condition. The building is no longer in use as a courthouse but is now a historical site, placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. Benchmark GU1072 is mounted on the northwest face of the building at the northerly corner.

WGS84 coordinates found by 4.5 minute occupation with 4 strong satellites and 1 intermittent WAAS satellite.
