AT MADERA, IN R17E T11S, IN THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER OF SECTION 24, ALONG WEST YOSEMITE AVENUE, BETWEEN H AND G STREETS, AT THE MADERA COUNTY COURTHOUSE, SET VERTICALLY IN THE NORTHEAST GRANITE BLOCK WALL, 4.8 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE NORTH CORNER OF THE BUILDING, AND 2.5 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND.

Found it at 12:00, 08 February 2003. Found it as described and in very good condition. The building is no longer in use as a courthouse but is now a historical site, placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. Benchmark GU1072 is mounted on the northwest face of the building at the northerly corner.

WGS84 coordinates found by 4.5 minute occupation with 4 strong satellites and 1 intermittent WAAS satellite

The southerly side of the old Madera County Courthouse. Benchmark GU1072 is located on the opposite (northerly) corner of the building. The cupola and spire of the Courthouse is also listed in with the NGS as a triangulation station, PID GU3368.
