DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1944 (JCS) STATION IS LOCATED ON THE W TERRACE OF THE KINGS COUNTY COURTHOUSE IN THE CITY OF HANFORD. UNDERGROUND MARK IS A BRONZE STATION DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST. STATION MARK IS A BRONZE STATION DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST FLUSH WITH THE GROUND. IT IS 98.9 FEET W OF THE SW CORNER OF THE COURTHOUSE, 126.6 FEET SW OF THE NW CORNER OF THE COURTHOUSE, AND IS STAMPED HANFORD 1944. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS A BRONZE REFERENCE DISK CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE CURB. IT IS 98 FEET E OF THE NE CORNER OF THE INTERSECTION OF WEST EIGHTH STREET AND NORTH ERWIN STREET, 18-1/2 FEET SW OF A SQUARE GRANITE POST, 6 FEET E OF A LAMPPOST, AND IS STAMPED HANFORD NO 1 1944. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS A BRONZE REFERENCE DISK CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN A CURB. IT IS IN THE W CURB OF NORTH ERWIN STREET, 33 FEET N OF THE NW CORNER OF THE INTERSECTION OF NORTH ERWIN STREET AND LACEY BOULEVARD, AND IS STAMPED HANFORD NO 2 1944. AZIMUTH MARK IS A BRONZE AZIMUTH DISK CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE CONCRETE BASE OF A LAMPPOST. IT IS 1/4 MILE W, 16 FEET E, OF THE E RAIL OF THE ATCHISON, TOPEKA AND SANTA FE RAILWAY TRACKS, ON THE N SIDE OF LACEY BOULEVARD, AND IN THE CIRCULAR CONCRETE BASE OF A LAMPPOST. IT IS STAMPED HANFORD 1944. A 103-FOOT STEEL TOWER WAS USED FOR OBSERVATIONS.
