GT1925 "Tulare Municipal Tank"
Went to Tulare for the day. Found some geocaches. Found some benchmarks.
Located in the City of Tulare, Tulare County, California, this NGS Triangulation Station stands on the northeast corner of O Street and Kern Avenue, just to the west of Tulare Union High School. The Station was found at 14:00, 16 February 2020 as described and in good condition. Go to description is adequate to find the mark.
This unique tank, along with having "Tulare" painted on the side, has been painted to look like it has water in it and water droplets on it. It also has a large bendy straw sticking out of the top of it.
There were to be an additional three marks immediately nearby: Triangulation Station "Tulare" (GT0595), along with its two Reference Marks, "Tulare RM 1" (GT0594) and "Tulare RM 2" (GT0593). Neither the Station or RM 1 could be located. RM 2 could be seen through the fence around the tank, but I couldn't get close enough to verify or photograph the disk.
No new coordinates were taken.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1944 (JCS) STATION IS LOCATED IN THE E PART OF THE TOWN OF TULARE, 175 FEET N OF THE CENTER LINE OF KERN STREET, AND 100 FEET E OF THE CENTER LINE OF O STREET. IT IS A SILVER-COLORED, ELEVATED, STEEL WATER TANK ABOUT 100 FEET HIGH. ITS APEX WAS THE POINT OF INTERSECTION.

Control Text
- The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in March 1994. The horizontal coordinates are valid at the epoch date displayed above. The epoch date for horizontal control is a decimal equivalence of Year/Month/Day.
- The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
- The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
