OY0265 "K91 1959"

Headed home from a trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons National Parks. Spent the night in Idaho Falls, Idaho before heading back to California. Found this benchmark while I was there as I didn't have any in the "OY" PID series.

Located in the City of Idaho Falls, Bonneville County, Idaho, this USC&GS mark lies adjacent to a small field on the southwest corner of Pioneer Road and Pioneer Drive.  The USC&GS mark stamped "K91 1959" was found at 10:00, 25 July 2019 as described and in generally good condition. Go to description is adequate to find the mark.

Published NAD83 coordinates are located about 166 feet southeast of the found WGS84 coordinates. WGS84 coordinates for the mark found by 4 minute occupation with 10 strong satellites and 1 WAAS satellite.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1959 4.5 MI SW FROM IDAHO FALLS. 2.2 MILES WEST ON U.S. HIGHWAY 91 FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAYS 191 AND 91 TO THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAYS 91 AND 20, THENCE 1.8 MILES SOUTH ON PAVED ROAD, THENCE 0.5 MILE EAST OF GRAVEL ROAD, 40 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF A T INTERSECTION, 30 1/2 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF A GRAVEL ROAD, 20 1/2 FEET SOUTHEAST OF A TELEPHONE POLE, 25 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF GRAVEL ROAD, 8 1/2 FEET WEST OF A FENCE CORNER, 1 1/2 FEET SOUTH OF A METAL WITNESS POST WITH SIGN, SET IN A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 4 INCHES.

Control Text

• The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
• The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
• The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
• The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
• The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
