DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1953 9.6 MI NW FROM FRESNO. 9.6 MILES NORTHWEST ALONG THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD FROM THE STATION AT FRESNO, AT HERNDON, 0.3 MILE SOUTHEAST OF THE HERNDON SIDING SIGN, 0.1 MILE SOUTHEAST OF THE CROSSING OF GRANTLAND AVENUE, 11-1/4 RAILS NORTHWEST OF MILEPOLE 196, AT THE FORMER CROSSING OF AN ABANDONED ROAD, 63 1/2 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ABANDONED ROAD, 78 1/2 FEET NORTHWEST OF TELEGRAPH POLE 10K, 58.6 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST RAIL OF THE MAIN TRACK, 62.8 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF A NORTHWEST-SOUTHEAST PAVED ROAD, 1.4 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A WITNESS POST, ABOUT 2 FEET HIGHER THAN THE TRACK, AND RIVETED ON TOP OF A 3 1/2-INCH IRON PIPE PROJECTING 0.5 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND.

Found it at 18:00, 16 April 2003. Found it as described and in good condition. The Herndon Siding sign has been gone for many years, but the abandoned road can still be seen and telegraph pole '10K' remains in place and is well weathered. A grass fire a few years ago has left the witness post charred.

Original coordinates (NAD83) off by about 190 feet when in WGS84 mode. WGS84 coordinates found by 3 minute occupation with 8 strong satellites and 2 WAAS satellites.
