DESCRIBED BY CALTRANS 1975 (HF) STATION IS LOCATED, AIRLINE, ABOUT 13-1/4 MILES SOUTHWEST OF FIVE POINTS AND 11-1/2 MILES NORTH-NORTHEAST OF COALINGA AT THE INTERSECTION OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 5 AND STATE HIGHWAY 145. STATION IS REACHED AS FOLLOWS--FROM FIVE POINTS, AT THE INTERSECTION OF MOUNT WHITNEY AVENUE AND STATE HIGHWAY 145, GO SOUTHWEST ON STATE HIGHWAY 145 FOR 12.8 MILES TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE LEFT. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE AZIMUTH MARK, CONTINUE SOUTHWEST ON STATE HIGHWAY 145 FOR 0.5 MILE TO THE EAST END OF A BRIDGE OVER INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 5 AND THE STATION ON THE RIGHT. STATION, STAMPED HARRIS 1975, IS A STANDARD 3 1/2-INCH CALIFORNIA DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS BRASS DISK SET IN THE TOP OF A 14-INCH DIAMETER CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 3 INCHES ABOVE GROUND. IT IS 22 FEET NORTHWEST OF AND ABOUT LEVEL WITH THE CENTERLINE OF STATE HIGHWAY 145, 62 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE CONCRETE BRIDGE RAIL, 4 FEET NORTHWEST OF A STEEL GUARD RAIL AND 2-1/2 FEET EAST OF A STEEL WITNESS POST. AN UNDERGROUND MARK, SAME AS SURFACE-STATION MARK, WAS SET IN A MASS OF CONCRETE 36 INCHES BELOW THE GROUND SURFACE. Found it at 14:28, 21 March 2003. Found it generally as described and in fair condition. All evidence for the station - 14 concrete post, bridge rail, guard rail, and steel witness post - were found as described with the exception of the 3.5 brass disk. The station disk has been removed from its setting in the concrete post.

Reference Monument #1 (RM1) was found as described and in good condition.

WGS84 coordinates found by 2 minute occupation with 10 strong satellites and 1 WAAS satellite.

The 14" concrete post setting for station 'HARRIS' and the Magellan. The brass disk is missing.
