HR0434 "P246 1935"
Spent the day in Madera County exploring some of the back-roads in and around the community of Bass Lake, California. Found this benchmark while I was there.
Located near the northwesterly end of Bass Lake, near the community of Bass Lake, Madera County, California, this USC&GS mark lies adjacent to South Shore Road (Road 222) in a Manzanita thicket, just a few hundred feet south of the small Saint Dominic Mission. The USC&GS mark stamped "P246 1935" was found at 10:10, 12 October 2019 as described and in generally good condition. Go to description is adequate to find the mark.
Published NAD83 coordinates are located about 110 feet southeasterly of the found WGS84 coordinates. WGS84 coordinates for the mark found by 4 minute occupation with 9 strong satellites and 1 WAAS satellite.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1943 11.4 MI N FROM NORTH FORK. 11.4 MILES NORTH ALONG THE MIAMI ROAD FROM THE SIERRA INN AT NORTH FORK, MADERA COUNTY, 50 FEET NORTHEAST OF UNITED STATES GENERAL LAND OFFICE MARKER 1917 T. 7 S., R 2 E., 15 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD, AND NEAR A WHITE WOODEN WITNESS POST. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED P 246 1935 AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST.

Control Text
- The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
- The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.) The vertical order pertains to the superseded datum.
- The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
